Date Night + Thrifty Find.

May 6, 2010

This week we drove up to Hawaiian Gardens for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ for only $7.99! It’s the cheapest in town & worth the drive through traffic to get there. Afterwards, stopped by our local thrift store. I was actually on the hunt for a pair of vintage feminine teacups, with which to make my mom some candles for Mother’s Day. I saw this tutorial on Martha Stewart & knew it’d be the perfect gift for my mom, who is a sucker for pretty china & always has candles burning in the kitchen. Unforch, I was only able to find one teacup I liked, so I scrapped the idea for the time being. I meandered through a bunch of aisles, until lo & behold, I found this:

A world map & travel bag rolled into one? It doesn’t get much better than this, my friends.

I am still debating whether I want to keep this for myself or open up a vintage etsy shop to sell it. Aiyiyi, what do you think?

Love the teacup candle project. I recently found a tutorial on that too and got SOOO excited because I’m a sucker for teacups, but I don’t drink tea! Maybe when we both find some teacups we like we can make the candles together!

That is too good of a bag. You definitely need to keep it- one of a kind.

I’d say both! Fun thing about thrift store finds is you can use it a bit and then resell later to a new lucky finder :)

    wow, that bag is amazing.

i find so many great things while thrifting. some i keep, some i sell… that’s the best part about having a vintage etsy shop because i can buy anything awesome and decide later if i want to give it to someone else to love.

OMG, did MDS lower their prices to 7.99 from 9.99??? I miss that place.
Great bag, BTW. My bro and sis-in-law on the hubby’s side are EXPERT flea market, vintage shoppers. He proposed at the flea.
